My Lord,

With reference to Sir Cecil Clementi's

despatch No.137 of March 12th, 1928, on the subject of

a sale by private treaty to the Hong Kong and China Gas Company of a site in Kowloon, I have the honour to inform

Your Lordship that a further application for the sale of

this area has now been received from the Company.

2.

After consultation with my Executive Council

I have agreed subject to Your Lordship's concurrence to

grant them the option of acquiring this site at any time

within one year from January 1st, 1931.

3. The conditions of sale are identical with

those accompanying the despatch under reference except

for the following alterations:

(1) the Crown rent will be at the rate of $4000

(2)

per annum instead of $1500 and

the following clause has been added in accordance

2849/18 with the terms of Mr. Amery's despatch No.175 of

(g)

May 21st, 1928:

The lot to be used only for the purposes of a

Gas Works and the erection of such offices

and quarters as may be considered necessary
